MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis track and field/cross country head coach Kevin Robinson announced the Tigers’ 2019 women’s signees Monday.
The group totals 19 newcomers, including 13 distance/cross country performers. The following are Robinson’s comments on the class and short biographical sketches on each signee:
Head coach Kevin Robinson comments
“When we began this recruiting cycle, our top priority was to build our women’s distance numbers. We were in a position where we had lost a lot through graduation. It was one of those years in which we needed a huge influx of distance runners to maintain safe numbers for cross country. We needed to boost that part of the program and get it moving in the right direction. That was our No. 1 priority coming in, and we did that. We brought in a number of talented women on the distance side.
“We also added several other key athletes for positions we didn’t have a presence in last year. We have a couple of strong heptathletes, a couple of throwers that will come in and help along with a couple of hurdlers and a couple of sprinters. We have a balanced class with significant numbers in the distance group. I feel we accomplished what we set out to do.”
